We, as guitarists, need to shift our perspective.
We are not merely guitarists.
We are not just musicians.
We are something greater.
We are artists.
Guitar artists express themselves through their music.
I fondly call us Underground Guitar Artists (or #UGtrA for short).
Because, while many others clamor for social media exposure, we diligently practice in our caves to cultivate our original artistic sound.
Every aspect of music and guitar, from rhythm to lead playing, theory to music technology, and even gear itself, serves as creative tools for us.
The primary focus for a UGtrA is to express oneself through art, speaking our native language.
As a UGtrA, you matter; your artistic viewpoint matters and this is what you should develop first.
Our world craves artists like us, and it needs our music. There is an abundance of music out there, but often it lacks emotion.
Our world lacks positive emotions in general.
The music business has muted unconventional music; guitarists have become addicted to likes, streams, and showcasing techniques, all while neglecting to infuse emotion into art.
If music lacks emotion during its creation, it won’t resonate when consumed.
But we can change that.
If you learn to express your emotions through playing the guitar, your music will be invaluable.
This is the change we want to bring.
We want a world brimming with positive emotions.
Do me a favor and put your original music out there.
Not for the stream, likes, or whatever.
Release it for those who seek art to illuminate their lives.
Whether there are a few or many, it doesn’t matter.
The only thing that matters is for you to keep playing music.
My goal is to aid all UGtrAs by providing an architectonically designed A-Z method.
The magic lies in the word architectonically.
The Internet is an endless sea of unstructured and random learning materials, leaving you isolated to figure out how to improve.
Many methods and courses have been created merely by arranging a set of the “right” exercises.
As an architect obsessed with dipole art & engineering, I meticulously designed the UGtrA method as a system that guides you from basic music concepts (point A) to becoming a self-sufficient musician (point B), achieving expressional and creative freedom.
Never get lost again searching the web for what to practice next or for the “magic” exercise that will transform your playing and help you improve faster.
Each course, training series, seminar, article, and everything I publish finds a place inside this system, working together to create results larger than an individual course could ever achieve [see the diagrams – my favorite learning tool!].
I had a brief conversation once with a neighbor of mine.
A kind and humorous old man, Mr. A.
“Where are you going holding that shotgun?” he asked.
“This is not a shotgun, Mr. A,” I said.
“It’s a guitar!”
“Guitar, huh? Man…
I have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar… But, unfortunately, I never did…”
That short conversation was years ago but had a tremendous impact on me.
I resolved to give my best and help as many guitar enthusiasts as I could to achieve their dream of learning how to play the guitar.
This is where The UGtrA Method comes in!
